ReDrone5G is a collaborative project between Ada Guzey Engineering and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), funded by Horizon Europe under the FIDAL project. Running from May 1, 2025, to February 1, 2026, ReDrone5G explores the integration of real-time video streaming capabilities into drone platforms using advanced 5G connectivity.
NTNU leads the project and provides the Beyond 5G (B5G) testbed infrastructure. Ada Guzey Engineering is responsible for designing and integrating a custom drone platform capable of carrying a high-definition camera, a Teltonika 5G router, and a mini onboard computer. These elements enable high-bandwidth, low-latency transmission of live aerial footage to a ground control station. Ada Guzey also develops the software and embedded systems to handle onboard video capture and streaming.
The goal of ReDrone5G is to demonstrate how 5G-enabled drones can be used in mission-critical applications requiring high-resolution video and real-time responsiveness, paving the way for next-generation aerial services in surveillance, inspection, and broadcasting.
